AN EARLY Mini Minor and an iconic Ford Capri and a Jenson Interceptor are part of the collection from a Hampshire enthusiast going under the auctioneer’s hammer at the end of this week.

Pick of the private garage is a near original 1969 Morris Mini that features the rare straight gear stick and floor mounted starter button. Complete with an extensive history file it was restored in 1985 and 1986 to include a new re-spray and new interior – it and is expected to sell for in excess of £8,000.

A lot of interest is also expected in the 1969 Ford Capri GT XLR that comes with its original bill of sale and service records back to 1970. It has featured in the Classic Ford magazine and the Capri Club magazine and is estimated to fetch between £7,000 and £8,000.

Just four years younger is the 1973 Jensen Interceptor and despite needing some attention the auctioneers have catalogued it at between £8,500 and £9,500.

Perhaps the rarest in the collection is the 1964 Jaguar MK X 420 G Automatic that shares its running gear with the E-Type Jaguar and is powered by a 3.8 litre triple carburettor twin-cam engine. With an estimate of £7,000 it is a lot cheaper than an E-Type.

The fifth and final lot from the unnamed Totton collector is a 1992 Jaguar XJ-S V12 which features a bodywork upgrade from specialist Guy Salmon. Finish in red with a cream leather interior it is on the total loss register, hence the reason for the conservative estimate of between £5,950 and £6,950.

Headlining the quarterly classic sale in Poole is a rare piece of British sportscar history, that has spent the last 60 years in the hands of a Dorset enthusiast - the penultimate pre-production hand-built Austin Healey 100/4 Le Mans, one of just 20 made at the Donald Healey Motor Company in Warwick in 1953 before production moved to the BMC factory at Longbridge.

Of those constructed (the first to carry the Austin Healey name) only 10 are known to still exist and the last standard road-going example to be offered for sale at auction in 2011 sold for £102,700. Three were converted to race specification and the original press car that has an established racing pedigree sold in 2013 for £785,500.

Actor Michael Crawford is one of the previous owners of a 1955 MG TF which also features in the sale catalogue.
