SOUTHAMPTON

The new White Star triple-screw steamer Titanic, 46,328 tons, the largest vessel in the world, left Belfast on Tuesday, and arrived at Southampton on Thursday.

She will sail from Southampton, on her first voyage to New York, on Wednesday of next week.

The Olympic and Titanic are essentially similar in design and construction, and yet, so rapidly are we moving, that already the experience gained with the Olympic is being taken advantage of in the Titanic.

The new vessel will accommodate about 3500 passengers and crew, and will be in charge of Commander Edward J. Smith, R.N.R., who is being transferred from the Olympic.
