IT may be frosty, but thoughts are turning to summer festival fun as Isle of Wight tickets go on sale this morning.

Promoter John Giddings is expecting a flood of purchases after pressure from revellers to put early bird tickets on sale in time for Christmas.

He told Your Entertainment he is close to announcing Saturday and Sunday night lead acts and has already named anthemic rock trio Biffy Clyro and international superstar DJ Calvin Harris as joint Friday night headliners.

He said: “I don’t want to tempt fate, but we are very close. It’s not easy when you are dealing with these kinds of megastars, but I’m very hopeful we should be there soon.

“I’m thrilled with what we’ve already announced. I saw Biffy at Reading last year and they were incredible, and Calvin Harris just can’t stop making hits.

“People asked me to return to the days when a dance act like Faithless or Prodigy got the party started on a Friday night and I can’t think of a better way to kick it off next year.

“Once again it will be a unique line-up of past, present and future. We’re not all about the young bands like Reading or chart bands like V. We mix and match and put on bands that are really able to perform, not necessarily those that are top of the charts.”

John has also revealed that the Field of Dreams will return to host England’s World Cup opener against Italy.
