THEY’RE the East End rockney duo who made a name for themselves with their pub singalong, music-hall humour, boogie woogie piano and pre-Beatles rock ’n’ roll back in the ’80s.

Now Chas and Dave are enjoying a renaissance and are a hot ticket on the festival scene.

They can seemingly star on a bill alongside anyone, which is why they’ve been booked for Boomtown Fair this summer.

The full line-up is due to be announced at midday today, but Your Entertainment has been given an exclusive preview chat with Chas Hodges, one half of the pop rockers.

He explains their festival popularity, which has seen them pack out fields at Glastonbury and Bestival.

“As the years have gone by, we seem to have got better and better! We always put on a good show and you get back what you put into it, I say.

“The very first time we did Glastonbury, we knew it was going to be good. But we had no idea just how good. It was absolutely fantastic and we’ve gone on to be regulars there and at other festivals.

“The crowds go mad for The Sideboard Song.

“We’re looking forward to Boomtown this summer and we’re fans of some of the other bands on the bill, so we might work on something together. Festivals are always an enjoyable experience.

“We’re honest, good musicians who love performing and we want to go on forever. We put across how we feel and the crowd love it. We enjoy the reaction and feed off it.”

Boomtown Fair takes place at the Matterley Estate near Winchester from August 7 to 10.
