TWO of Southampton’s biggest music businesses have joined forces to provide the ultimate music education experience.

The Academy of Music and Sound has been providing industry-led degree courses in music for more than five years at their campus on Chapel Road.

After experiencing a growth in their teaching business in recent years, they have partnered with top commercial studio River Studios in Totton, which is to become the HE Campus where the degree courses will be run.

“It’s a really exciting move,” said centre manager Dave Phillips. “We want to give our degree students the best learning experience we possibly can.

“Who wouldn’t want to learn about music surrounded by professional musicians and up and coming artists in one of the best facilities on the south coast?”

From October 2014, Academy Music performance students will have all of their university lessons at River Studios, with the Music Production students learning in the recording studio that has recorded Brit Award-nominated Birdy and local teen starlet Charley Macauley.
