PORTSWOOD is to come alive next month as a legend is reborn.

On Friday, December 19, The Brook hosts a live production of hits such as Peggy Sue, That’ll be the Day and Oh Boy as a Buddy Holly imperson-ator comes to the stage.

To mark the 55th anniversary of the day Buddy Holly died in a plane crash – along with Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper – A Legend Reborn promises to take the audience on a journey throughout the 50s singer’s musical history.

Donning the iconic thick-rimmed glasses, Marc Robinson boasts a repertoire of more than 30 of Buddy’s greatest hits, including It’s So Easy, Heartbeat and True Love Ways.

“Altogether Buddy recorded 109 songs,” Marc said. “Obviously, the best-known songs like Heartbeat, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy and That’ll Be The Day enjoy a warm reception, but we’ve been surprised by the depth of knowledge of our audiences.”

Mr Robinson said that the cast was spurred to learn the song Valley of Tears following repeated requests for its inclusion when the show first hit the road.

Show producer Michael Taylor said the show is a theatrical treat whether you are fanatical about Buddy Holly or simply want to enjoy a night of hit-packed music performed by talented musicians.

“Book your seats for the only local date on the show’s nationwide tour,” he said.

“That’ll be a very special day, guaranteed!”
