JAZZ-FUNK pioneer Roy Ayres “Everybody loves the sunshine” will headline at the launch party of The Dudsbury Country Club on June 25 – delaying his visit to Glastonbury!

The American funk, soul, and jazz composer is a key figure in the acid jazz movement, which is a mixture of jazz into hip-hop and funk.

He has been dubbed by many as “The Godfather of Neo Soul”.

He is most well known for his signature compositions Everybody Loves The Sunshine and Searchin and is also famous for having more sampled hits by rappers than any other artist.

The former Dudsbury pub at West Parley has undergone major investment and is re-opening as a restaurant and country club, where you can eat, watch big name music acts – and even indulge in a spot of fishing.

Setin five riverside acres, the project is the brainchild of Bournemouth born music and entertainments promoter Paul Potter, pictured.

Co-owner Paul explained: “I used to play and fish here when I was a boy and have great memories of the place.

"When the chance came up to buy the pub it seemed only natural for me to make it somewhere totally unique for Bournemouth where whole families could come, have great food and make full use of this amazing location - whether that’s exploring the Iron Age hill fort that lies aside us, watching great music acts in our garden or even taking a fishing workshop on our little stretch of the River Stour.”

Paul’s music background is set to guarantee some great acts appearing at the Dudsbury Country Club.

One of the original team behind the music bible Mixmag magazine, he now books musical acts for concerts and festivals around the world.

Some 1,000 complimentary tickets are available via the website www.dudsburycountryclub.com on a first come first served basis.

Donations are welcomed on the door for ‘The Round Table Children’s Wish Charity’.

Paul added: “I am so excited to re-launch and reinvigorate this beautiful site. It’s an exciting time and I thrive on the challenge.”
