Get ready to celebrate and reminisce one of the original, most anarchic and groundbreaking Saturday morning series in British television – TISWAS!! It’s rebellious, irreverent nature became the trademark and part of the legacy of this iconic ITV show, which first aired in the mid 1970s and watched by millions.
The big appeal of TISWAS was undoubtedly its quirky team of presenters, led by Chris Tarrant & including its only female presenter Sally James, but who can forget the notorious Phantom Flan Flinger! The cast of regulars grew during the course of the show’s evolution, and a team of cult heroes soon became apparent. Amongst those who also served were John Gorman and Bob Carolgees with his punk puppet, Spit the Dog. With additional frequent appearances by popular comedians such as Jasper Carrott, Jim Davidson and, most notably, a young Lenny Henry who later became a regular member of the notorious TISWAS team!
The new TISWAS album is jam packed with anarchy anthems reminiscent of the TISWAS era! Memorable classics include: Status Quo ‘Whatever You Want’, Adam & The Ants ‘Antmusic’, Iron Maiden ‘Run To The Hills’, The Specials ‘Too Much Too Young’ and Sarah Brightman & Hot Gossip ‘I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper’. A must-have album this Christmas for any TIWAS fan or anyone who wants to revive the 70’s anarchist from within! Release Date: 30th November 2009 Label: EMI TV
