THEM CROOKED VULTURES – THEM CROOKED VULTURES Supergroups seem to be the order of the day at the moment. Much like Hollywood’s obsession with superheroes these creations are springing up willy-nilly in an attempt to maybe pencil the participants’ names in to immortality.

Step forward Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana), Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, Eagles Of Death Metal) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin).

Them Crooked Vultures are a volcano of rockawesomeness ready to explode over the surrounding landscape and let their molten music erase those around them pitifully trying to deny them a place among music’s elite.

And, it would seem, our eardrums.

It’s loud, it’s abrasive, it’s dirty.

Everything you would expect from the previous projects of the above three is present.

Grohl drums like a man possessed, Josh Homme’s unique vocals and rousing guitar riffs get a tick on the register and Jones’ delicate bass-lines hold the other two together like the butter in a sandwich.

And it’s one of tastiest sandwiches this mouth has ever encountered.

There are some classic rock numbers here.

No One Loves Me And Neither Do I and Scumbag Blues Caligulove. All are retro rock yet equally modern and unique.

This one won’t be leaving the CD player for a while.
