ON the back of a number one album and sell-out stadium shows with Oasis, there was no way Kasabian were going to end their 2009 tour quietly.

The loud Leicester lads stormed the BIC for an extended night in their November arena tour and continued the fiercely electric atmosphere that has been enthralling crowds throughout the year.

Tracks Underdog, I’m On Fire and Vlad The Impaler all had people jumping, shouting and quite often punching along with adrenaline for the ultimate seal of approval to their Mercury Prize-nominated third album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.

With a set full of previous efforts including Empire, LSF and Club Foot, there was no way anyone who had taken an interest in the band over the past few years would have been disappointed.

As with their recordings, the band’s live performances have improved in almost every detail. They are not just louder and prouder – but have imposed themselves as one of the strongest live acts for anyone looking for an energetic, passionate and quality modern rock band.

And last night’s excellent performance confirmed they are firmly an act to be reckoned with.
