THERE were lots of positives.
It was great to see a band like this in such an intimate setting, so you could get up close without being intimidated.
It was the first night of the tour and there was plenty of energy in their set. Lead singer Craig Finn was bouncing around the stage, bonding well with the audience and clearly enjoying himself.
There were plenty of crowd pleasers, including Chips Ahoy, Constructive Summer and South Town Girls.
By the time it came for encores, the crowd was clearly expecting to hear Sequestered in Memphis and the band didn’t disappoint.
We were even teased when the parting shot from the stage was to ‘Stay Positive Southampton’.
The one glaring omission from the night was the iconic track itself – and we left feeling a little less positive than we had hoped.
