POPS Incorporated UK will once again take to the stage at Thornden Hall in Chandler’s Ford tomorrow night with a programme of music from the 50s to the 0`s performed by an 80 piece orchestra and vocalists.

Drawing on the talent of some of the best young musicians from across Hampshire, the ensemble is modelled on the famous Boston and Toronto Pops Orchestras.

The only orchestra of its kind in England, Pops Incorporated UK plays popular styles of music, from film themes to rock tunes and light classics.

Recognised by its audiences for its unique vibrancy and zest for life, the orchestra has won great acclaim both at home and abroad.

Summertime Special will be a lively concert with music and vocal items for all the family, whatever their age.

There will be a variety of items, including music from Henri Mancini, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Cry Me a River and Feeling Good by Michael Buble and Stayin’ Alive and Night Fever by the Bee Gees.

n THIS Sunday and next, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens will be alive with music rather than bird song.

Ensembles from the City of Southampton Orchestra will be presenting two afternoons of classical music under the shade of oak trees.

Visitors are invited to bring a rug and soak up the beautiful surroundings while being serenaded by the musicians from 2pm.

n ORANGE Rooms teams up with local independent festival Festibelly tonight.

A warm up for the fun, friendly and really rather fabulous festival set in the luscious surroundings of The New Forest , headline acts will include Willy Moon, Ragga Twins, Bastille, Rob da Bank and Man Like Me, who hit the stage tonight.

Man Like Me are the Camden Town duo Johnny Langer and Peter Duffy.

Sharing a penchant for North London boozers and old skool garage, the ‘carnivalesque kings’ have dominated discerning dancefloors from Dalston to LA over the past two years, proving again and again why they’re an incredible live act. Since forming in 2005, Man Like Me have built a strong and loyal following through a combination of quality releases, extensive gigging, and TV and radio appearances. Their meteoric rise from the streets of Camden – including high profile gigs in London, Paris, Glasgow, Florence, Venice, Amsterdam, LA, Las Vegas, Rome and Barcelona as well as a very muddy Glastonbury appearance – was reflected when they became the second only unsigned act, after Friendly Fires, to play Channel 4’s Transmission show.

n SOUND of the C brings you some of the South’s top up and coming indie bands for your delectation.

This Sunday’s show, at The Brook, features indie rockers Coburg’s Widow, who promise a set varying in tempo, ranging from the mellow sounds of Old Albert to the rocky foot stomping Red Phone Box.

Also enjoy Southampton’s next music generation of MODRock performed with high energy by England Road and old school rock ’n’ roll with an acoustic twist from The Stealers.

After playing with bands Theory Test, The Retake and Saucy Jack, Adam Humphries decided that a solo project was the way to go. This is the result.
