SOUTHAMPTON band Elixir have promised to bring their strongest set of music so far to Common People this weekend.

The local fusion-rockers are part of Saturday’s afternoon line-up on the Uncommon Stage presented by The Joiners and they can’t wait for the bank holiday weekend to begin.

“We’ve been looking forward and practicing for Common People all year and we feel this will be our best set by far!” bassist Harry Stevenson told The Southern Daily Echo.

“We’ll play songs from our EP plus by some newer tracks, including a brand new one which we’ll debut for the very first time.”

“It’s amazing to be playing a festival of this calibre with so many other home grown bands – so many of Southampton's finest! As ever, we have The Joiners to thank for that.

“The Uncommon Stage is bursting with local talent and we will be very surprised if we move far from it during the weekend, though we may sneak away to catch The Chuckle Brothers on the main stage!”

While the festival on Southampton Common is a first for frontman Jack White, guitarist Laurence Henderson and drummer Brad Turner, Harry is already a veteran as he played with The Costellos during last year’s inaugural event.

“Last year was fantastic. Everything was so well organised and fluent that it took so much stress off of the band and allowed us to really enjoy playing and properly enjoy the day.”

After the festival the work continues for the Led Zeppelin to Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pink Floyd influenced band as Harry explained.

“We've been recording a new single with Ben Marks down at Quay West Studios, and in the following weeks we will be releasing a brand new website, art work and a music video to showcase the next stage in the bands future.“
