THERE is life after The Voice for Hampshire's own talented singer Harry Fisher, as Rosalind Fountain discovers...

Q: Harry, it must have been thrilling to be selected as one of Boy George's top three on BBC's The Voice earlier this year, and to appear on television week after week in front of millions of viewers, but how did you feel when it was all over?

A:" It was an amazing experience, and although I didn't win, I was very happy with the outcome. I'm probably not the usual sort of singer you see on the programme, my image changes from day to day, and I like to push boundaries. I wanted to show that it's fine to be different and not fit into any defined category. I think I made that statement during my performances and it gave me the confidence to show the real me, and to move forward now with my career."

Q: Have you kept in touch with Boy George?

A: "Yes, he's keeping an eye on me and my future career. We had a great relationship on the show, he really understood me and gave me the inspiration to be myself. Boy George is such a talented star, but he also has a great sense of humour and is very supportive. I was privileged to have him as my mentor."

Q: "As a young boy at Romsey Primary School and later at Brockenhurst College, did you imagine that one day you'd be mixing with people like Boy George and Will.i.am, and performing in front of huge TV audiences?

A: "Well, I've always loved performing and music from a very young age. If you have a passion and a dream and you're prepared to work hard and have the commitment, dreams can come true."

Q: Where have you performed in Southampton?

A: "I used to take any opportunity to gig wherever I could. I sang at the famous Concorde Club in Eastleigh and at the Southampton Maritime Festival held in the Ocean Cruise Terminal in the port, as well as smaller venues all over the city. A few years ago I sang at Southampton's Music in the City festival, which is now one of the biggest free festivals in the South."

Q: Bring us up-to-date with what you are doing at the moment.

A: "I've returned to university in London, but I am in the process of recording an E.P. It's going to be unique, with an accompanying 40 minute visual recording, including spoken word which I am writing. Whenever I have a spare minute I'll be writing songs and poems, and since The Voice I've been performing constantly around the country. I'll go wherever the music takes me."

Q: So is there any chance that in your busy schedule the music will take you back to perform in your home town of Southampton this year?

A: "Yes, I'm really happy to say that I'll be returning to perform at this year's Music in the City festival on October 1st. It will be a great homecoming and I look forward to being back."
