KING Pleasure & the Biscuit Boys are more than just the world’s greatest swing and R&B band, they are an institution! The band have been on the road for almost three decades playing every European country as well as touring the USA, Russia and the MiddleEast, recording ten CDs.

Dedicated to shaking you up and swinging you, they appear at The Concorde Club on Wednesday.

HAZEL O’CONNOR

Coinciding with the 2014 release of the new album, Here She Comes, and the publication of her acclaimed autobiography, Breaking Glass Barefoot, award winning singer songwriter Hazel O’Connor embarks on a tour, taking in two Hampshire venues this weekend. She has teamed up with legendary performers, saxophonist Clare Hirst (Bellestars, Communards, David Bowie) and Sarah Fisher (Eurythmics) on keyboards.

They are on stage at Ashcroft Arts Centre in Fareham tonight and Forest Arts in New Milton tomorrow.

SMILE FESTIVAL OF MUSIC

SOUTHAMPTON Solent University’s SMILE Festival of Music will once again take over the city this month.

Now in its sixth year, the festival offers a mix of live concerts, club nights, workshops, exhibitions and challenges in addition to a music and music media industries conference – all of which are organised, managed and promoted by students and staff from the University’s music courses.

It gets under way at The Cellar tomorrow with a preview which features acoustic sets from up and coming local talent including The Rabsons, James Herrity, Naomi Rush and Kai Knightly. Music lovers will also have the chance to see Henry Wacey, The Lilly Whites, Emma Hunter and Groverooms in action from 1pm. The festival continues with gigs and club nights in more than a dozen city venues.
