TAKEDOWN FESTIVAL

TAKEDOWN Festival returns for 2014, bigger and better than ever and with a new stage exclusively for hard rock. Alternative music fans are in for a treat as two headline worthy bands top the main stage billing – Funeral for a Friend and Kids in Glass Houses – as well as a host of the UK’s best musical talent. Heaven’s Basement, Glamour of the Kill, Yashin, Canterbury and Feet the Rhino also appear, with Total Uprawr returning for the after show party. The event takes place tomorrow at Southampton University.

THE VIBRATORS

THE Vibrators return to the Talking Heads tonight.

In their long career, the band have toured with the likes of Iggy Pop (with David Bowie on keyboards), Ian Hunter and REM.

As they near 40 years of making records and constantly touring, their show retains the same energy.

Support bands are Night of Treason, Arid Wave and Second Hand Citizen.

THE CORRESPONDENTS

TO celebrate the release of their long-awaited debut album Puppet Loosely Strung, producer Chucks and singer Mr Bruce of The Correspondents are visiting Southampton’s Roxx tomorrow night.

For the last four years they have toured relentlessly with an average of three gigs a week, they have travelled the world bringing their unique live show to crowds as large as 12,000 earning themselves The Telegraph’s ‘Top Ten Glastonbury Highlights’ two years in a row, but they haven’t released an album until now.

Puppet Loosely Strung is the long-awaited culmination of years of musical experience from this exceptionally talented duo. Those lucky enough to have witnessed their inimitable live show will be fully aware of the high voltage performances the pair are capable of. Their live sets are constantly evolving as they leap through a multitude of genres, tapping a history of dance music from jazz and blues to electro and drum ‘n’ bass.
