OXFAM MUSIC SOUTHAMPTON

IT’S a big heartfelt thank you from the staff at Oxfam Music Southampton.

Tonight The Cellar hosts an evening of music and frolics to say thank you to the fine people of the city for their constant support of the shop and the charity, particularly after they were robbed last year.

Entry is free to the gig, which includes music from The Sea Slugs, Bel Esprit, Te nderlore and Happy Accidents, but donations will be gratefully received.

SOUNDER

TOMORROW sees the long awaited return of one of Southampton’s favourite retro bands to the Joiners.

After a ten-year sabbatical, Sounder will be playing to a sell-out crowd, showcasing new material along with some of their classics. Drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of influences from Zappa to Orwell via Python and Madchester,Sounder brought their unique sound to the masses culminating in the critically acclaimed Sun Worshipper EP.Support comes from Disco Lies, Daughters Courag-eous and Shatter Effect.

SEARCHERS

THE globetrotting Searchers are at Fareham’s Ferneham Hall on Tuesday. Without doubt one of the hardest working bands on any circuit, they play between 150 to 200 concerts a year.

Guitarist/singer John McNally is still in the lineup 52 years after he founded The Searchers.

Sing along to a multitude of hits including Sweets For My Sweet, Sugar & Spice, and Don’t Throw Your Love Away.

GUITAR GANGSTERS

IT’S punk, but not as you know it.

Enjoy noisy melodic punk from Guitar Gangsters at the Ta lking Heads tomorrow night. After more than two decades, the line-up is almost unchanged with birthday boy Pete Ley on guitar and vocals, bass from Phil Ley, Gianfranco Scalia on drums and original drummer Steve Brewer still making regular guest appearances.

They have a total of 21 years in the punk saddle, 19 countries, eight studio albums, two live albums, three singles and too many shows to count.

Support comes from The Flying Alexanders, Lawless Nation and Dancing Shoes.
