IT was not just Glastonbury that got a soaking at the weekend.

Five hundred revellers at Hampshire back garden festival Bradfest also braved brolleybashing weather to enjoy a fabulous line-up of talent.

Charley Macaulay and her eight-piece soul and funk band headlined the event at Woodlands Park, in Otterbourne, near Winchester.

The 20-year-old Southampton singing sensation topped the bill at last year’s event and was so moved she became an ambassador for the charity that organises it.

Alongside her on the bill were tribute band The Strolling Stones, Marley Blandford and CJ from The Voice.

Organiser Tina Dine said: “Despite the weather it was a great success. We did have a downpour for a couple of hours but we had plenty of marquee cover so people could get out of the rain.

“Then at 6.30pm it stopped and was sunny and cleared all evening. The atmosphere was fantastic. There was such a great line-up.”The event also included traditional stalls, a fun park, and locally sourced food and refreshments. Ms Dine said: “We went this year for the family festival approach and had lots of families there with loads of kids’ entertainment.”

The venue is in the home of organiser Ms Dine, who set up the Bradley Foundation in memory of her son to raise money for cancer charities. Bradley Watson died aged nine in a road accident near his home in June 2000.

The charity was launched in 2012 to mark what would have been Bradley’s 21st birthday and aims to bring a new teenage and young adult cancer ward to Southampton General Hospital.

The 2014 edition raised more than £15,000, with most of the money going towards the Teenage Cancer Trust.
