HUNDREDS rocked out at the annual Takedown festival in Southampton, to enjoy the best of alternative music.

Bands from across the region graced the stage at the Student’s Union on the Main Campus for the day-long festival which is now in its sixth year.

Headliners Mallory Knox returned to the festival after opening the main stage two years ago, performing music from their latest album.

Charlie Simpson, formerly of Fightstar and Busted, also made an appearance, as did scores of other acts across the five stages at the University of Southampton.

Chief organiser Kai Harris, said the day had been a success and that plans were already in place for next year’s festival on March 5.

He said: “We have had massive support from local artists and regional bands. The majority of small acts are from this region. This year has been really successful, we’re already on course for next year with early bird tickets on sale now.”
