FINAL line up additions for New Forest Folk Festival have been announced.

Show of Hands, Acoustic Strawbs, Jacqui McShee's Pentangle and Mad Dog Mcrea are among the artists to grace the stage of the small and friendly festival with the big line-up.

The Ric Sanders Trio, Richard Digance and Joe Broughton’s Conservatoire Folk Ensemble are also on the bill at the event, which takes place at Powells Farm at Plaitford from July 5 to 9.

Enjoy musical entertainment from Bonnie Dobson, Barney Newman, The Jigantics and Southampton Ukulele Jam, plus morris dancers and poets keeping the crowd occupied during changeovers.

Phil Beer, a member of the award winning folk band Show of Hands, and regular at the festival, told the Daily Echo: “This festival is growing both in size, quality and professionalism. This event could turn into one of the most popular music festivals in the calendar.

“Also, here's the thing, the audience is not just the usual suspects who go from festival to festival each summer. There is a very large following from locals here. Very refreshing and important.”

Nick Curtis, his wife Helen and his brother Keith and their families, organise the event held at Powells Farm, Plaitford, the family’s home for six generations. The adorable addition to the family team at this year’s Folk Festival was Bertie, the bouncy black lab, who is not only the family pet, but also official festival mascot.

Nick added: “Putting the line-up together for this year’s festival has been a real mission. There are so many class acts on circuit it’s really hard to make a decision."
