VICTORIOUS Festival 2017 is set to be "bigger and better than ever" say organisers with over 60,000 festival goers last year and even more expected to attend this year.

The UK's biggest metropolitan festival, which comes storming into Southsea this weekend, will this year enjoy an all-new Friday night opening party

headlined by Madness.

Stereophonics and Elbow will top the bill on Saturday and Sunday.

Celebrating an incredible 25 year career, Welsh rockers Stereophonics are guaranteed to deliver an immense set on Saturday night packed with hits from ten studio albums and a dynamic live performance that has earned them a reputation as one of the best in the business.

Support comes from indie-folk troubadour Jake Bugg, power pop trio Feeder, folk rockers Frightened Rabbit, alt-rock upstarts Sundara Karma, feted grime artist and rapper Lady Leshurr and lo-fi London four piece Palace.

Headlining Sunday and providing the finale are Mercury-winning Mancunian maestros Elbow. Enjoying critical acclaim for new album Little Fictions, Elbow’s beautiful ballads and life-affirming indie-rock anthems will make for a sublime crescendo.

Also appearing on Sunday’s bill are art-rockers Franz Ferdinand, nu-punk duo Slaves, multi-award winning singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, Tanzanian rapper Tiggs Da Author and garage punk outfit Crows.

The Charlatans, Olly Murs and Rita Ora are also on the bill for the annual event, which enjoys a seaside location overlooking the Solent.

Victorious was founded in 2012 and takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend generating over £5.8m a year for the local economy.

The family friendly event enjoys an enormous free kids arena and bustling markets. An offsite camping option is being offered for the first time this year.
