American punkers Alkaline Trio have had more record labels than underwear changes. They’re also on their fifth drummer. It’s all a bit Spinal Tap-ish.
But one thing remains the same (almost). That raw punk sound you associate with the circle of Chicago bands they call their associates returns.
While 2005’s Crimson may have seemed a little more mainstream to some, there’s no doubting that by now we have gone full circle and the band are back where they began. The band is also very My Space-oriented these days.
This, their seventh studio album, is released on their own record label. Such is the norm these days.
From the moment the title track kicks in you know this is going to be special. Rip-roaring guitar and the thud of bass drum pound your eardrums in to submission.
While others “sold out” to maintain their chart positions, Alkaline Trio decided to stick to what they do best – tearing up your mind with their violent brand of punk which leaves your eyes wide and your mouth foaming.
