SHE’S better known in the UK for her high-profile relationship than her pop career.

But Russell Brand’s wife is an out and out entertainer.

Katy Perry knows how to put on a show – and can belt out a song with the best of them.

A packed audience loved every minute of her sugar-rush of a set.

Before she bounds onto a candyfloss stage we are treated to the first recorded sequence which tells the story of her adventure in a bonkers land that seems like a cross between a surreal Yellow Brick Road and a hallucinogenic Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

Perry is the singer who kissed a girl and liked it in 2008, a song which was one of the highlights of a brilliant set, involving numerous colourful costume changes and a laser show.

There were little chances for downtime in an impressive two-hour show, which ended in truly spectacular fashion to the sound of Firework, while indoor fireworks burst from two giant cupcakes, and an upbeat California Gurls.

There are a few risque moments from the singer, not least the set for the song Peacock when the lyrics get rather interesting while she’s dressed in a fairly skimpy green and blue feather.

They do say she’s the cheeky alternative to Lady Gaga and Rihanna and the show had a real Carry On element to it. Perry even attempted to play a rhinestone encrusted flute for a cheeky cover of Jay Z’s Big Pimpin’.

Now an adopted Brit, she told the audience she loves My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and The Only Way Is Essex.

And, seeing the reaction to this incredible gig, British audiences will be looking forward to seeing a lot more of her.
