DON’T be alarmed if you spot a cheetah or a deer among the grass at Beaulieu National Motor Museum, House and Gardens.
It’s not a fearsome predator but one of the sculptures at this year’s Summer Sculpture Trail.
Within this distinctive setting in the New Forest, a wide range of sculptures can be discovered, from striking contemporary pieces to expressive figurative works of art, which are thoughtfully placed to enhance the natural beauty of the gardens.
Artists from Hampshire and all over the south of England who are members of Surrey Sculpture Society (SSS) are displaying their unique range of sculptures.
They can be seen at the attraction’s entrance, along the walkways and leading to the delightful gardens and riverside grounds; some smaller pieces are even inside the historic Palace House.
Known to be one of the largest exhibitions of sculpture in the country, the pieces of art have been carefully selected from the large SSS membership of 374 based across the southern region and are created by both talented amateurs and top professional sculptors.
The sculptures range from contemporary to traditional styles offering broad appeal to suit all tastes and budgets.
Hampshire-based sculptor, Bridget Dumper, is a regular exhibitor at Beaulieu.
“I am very excited to be exhibiting at Beaulieu again and wouldn’t miss a year,” she says.
“I love having my work exhibited at such a professional level in such a perfect environment – it is a real pleasure and a privilege.”
