THERE is another opportunity to see Nuffield’s critically acclaimed production of A Number which has received four and five stars across the board.

The production returns to Nuffield August 19 – 29 after an incredibly successful transfer to the Young Vic in London, where it was extended due to sold-out performances.

Bernard thinks he’s an only child. At the age of 35, he learns the shocking truth.

Discovering the results of a scientific experiment that left him as one of “a number”, Bernard confronts his father, Salter.

Identities are challenged, but how will Salter reveal the true events of the past? And more importantly, which Bernard is the original?

A Number, written by leading British playwright, Caryl Churchill, asks human questions of a complex scientific debate, not least the moral and human dilemmas that arise when experimentation gets out of control. Caryl Churchill pushes the boundaries of science and ethics with an astonishing twist on the dynamics of the father/son relationship.

The spectacular set design of A Number places father-and-son performers John and Lex Shrapnel inside a mirrored cube, a kaleidoscope of infinite images reflecting their every move.

Audiences will be at the heart of the action, seated on stage surrounding the actors, offering them a unique experience of the play. This is 60 minutes of sharp, unmissable theatre.

Tickets are £18 or £15 concessions and are available from the Box Office on 023 8067 1771 or online at nuffieldtheatre.co.uk.
