THE Fortunes return to the Regent in Christchurch on Friday 4 September 7.30pm.

This Hit Band of the 60s and 70s had numerous worldwide smashes including ‘’You’ve Got Your Troubles,’’ ‘’Here It Comes Again’’, ‘’Storm In A Teacup,’’ ‘’Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again’’, ‘’Seasons in the Sun’’, ‘’Freedom Come Freedom Go’’ and of course “Caroline,” which became the signature tune for the famous Radio Caroline South pirate radio station. “Caroline” was famously banned by the BBC because they did not want to publicise Radio Caroline!

The Fortunes were the foremost proponents of “Brum Beat,” Birmingham’s answer to Liverpool’s “Mersey Beat.” The Fortunes are still justly famous for their wonderful vocals, lush harmonies and counter melodies, which made all of their hits instantly recognisable.

This intimate show will not only include all The Fortunes' fabulous hits, but many others drawn from the Band members’ time in other bands and working with other famous stars of the Swinging 60s and 70s, such as Marmalade, Billy J Kramer’s Dakotas, Del Shannon and Bobby Vee and Love Affair.

The show will also feature untold anecdotes and stories drawn from the many experiences of the band over the years. A particular highlight is the ‘The Badfinger Story', covering Bob Jackson’s time with that ill-fated but brilliant band. Badfinger had the misfortune to release the original version of “Without You,” which then became a worldwide smash hit for Harry Nilsson rather than for them. Fortunately, Badfinger went on to have their own success with other hits like “Come and Get It.”
