Do you want to play at Common People this year?

For the fourth year running, the Common People team are proud to team up with world-renowned music venue, the Joiners Arms to launch this year’s edition of I Want to Play at Common People.

Is your band the most exciting on the South Coast?

If you think you’ve got what it takes, then this is a gilt-edged chance to get on the line-up for this year’s festival - along with Lily Allen, James and The Jacksons - held on Southampton Common over the Spring Bank Holiday, May 26 and 27.

To apply, you need to send one track to localacts@commonpeople.net with a maximum of 100 words telling us why you want to play Common People by Monday March 5, that’s not long, so you need to act fast. And don’t forget to include your act name, number of members, your location and your social media links.

Organisers will listen to every submission and will notify successful artists by Wednesday March 7.

Finals will be held at the Joiners in Southampton on Tuesday March 13, Tuesday April 3 and Wednesday May2 .

If you’re not entering the competition but want to come and check out the cream of Hampshire’s band scene, entry is just £3.00. Don’t miss out on seeing some of the best new bands around.

The competition finals will be judged by the Joiners’ Ricky Bates, Common People head honcho, Rob da Bank, BBC Introducing Solent presenter Stephanie Nieuwenhuys (May 2 only) and a crack team of music experts.

The winners will win a sought-after set at this year’s Common People on the Uncommon Stage presented by The Joiners!
