FROM Union Jack Russells and truly British bulldogs to regal beagles, hundreds of you entered the Daily Echo Patriotic Pets competition.

Over the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee festivities, pets of all shapes and sizes were submitted from across Hampshire as families proved pets can be patriotic too. But the winner just had to be four-year-old Molly who stole the show with her Jubilee get up.

Forget Yeomen of the Guard meet ‘Meowman of the Guard’ who looks like she is taking her role of being a bodyguard to the British monarch very seriously.

Barbara Carradus, from Hythe, said her daughter Maria made the outfit and managed to get a snap when the puss was sleepy.

She said: “I am so pleased Molly won the competition. Maria makes the cats little outfits and takes pictures when they are just about ready for bed so they stay still. She has even made a calendar before.”

Remember Hampshire’s very own British boxer family owned by Lorraine Finch who looked set to make an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony?

Louis, Heidi, Tye and Tess, of Bitterne, scooped the runner-up spot and they all look ready to receive their royal prize.

And watch out Prince Wills and Harry because third prize went to cheeky chaps Eric and Arthur the guinea pigs who looked the part in their Union flag hats.

Each of our top three Patriotic Pets owners will receive a goody bag for their furry friends.
