IT’S not every couple who can boast they had an X-Factor finalist sing at their wedding.

But Rob and Hannah Plunton, who tied the knot at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Winchester , had Yousseph “Chico” Slimani as their best man.

The newly-weds, who have just taken over running The Ship Inn in Wales Street, held a reception for 160 guests at The Vault in Winchester University students’ union so Chico could perform.

Rob, 24, said: “It was fantastic. We had a mix of ages from young to really old and by the end of the night everyone was on their feet – even the oldies. He invited them to get on the tables and dance.

“Even guests who were a bit sceptical at first were won over as Chico is a really good entertainer.”

During the reception, Chico, who rose to fame in the UK after reaching the finals of the 2005 series of the talent show, sang a new song Crazy not yet released and others, including Sexy and I know It before finishing with his number one hit It’s Chico Time.

Rob has known the singer, who recently came third on TV’s Dancing On Ice, since he volunteered to run his website when he was signed to Sony in exchange for free tickets to gigs.

He also drove him on tour on his weekends off from his day job as a pub chef, ran his fan club and sale of merchandise, such as T-shirts.

In his best man’s speech, Chico told wedding guests how Rob had looked after him during his career and had become like part of his family.

The Pluntons, who have just returned from honeymoon in Cyprus, plan to revamp the Ship Inn into a more a family-orientated pub with refurbished interior and new menu.

The couple previously ran The Five Bells in Stockbridge but wanted to return to Winchester where they both grew up.
