SO the BRITS were much more entertaining than usual.

Slightly more haphazard car crash than the usual overlong snoozefest, the show managed to hold my attention for a good couple of hours.

Even James Corden, in his final year presenting, did rather well. Apart from the moment when he took a selfie of him and Prince, which was a touch mortifying. Oh and during the spin-off after show, he didn’t even have the good grace to look embarrassed as one of East 17 burst into a heartfelt rendition of Stay Another Day for him.

Seriously.

American divas Katy Perry and Beyonce know how to put on a show, the Rudimental and Bastille mash up was simply superb and what better way to end a show than with Pharrell Williams and the legendary Nile Rogers with disco classics and modern gems.

David Bowie stole the show without even being bothered to turn up – sending Kate Moss, dressed as Ziggy Stardust, to collect his award and tell the world his views on Scottish independence.

And I just can’t decide whether Alex Turner is an idiot or an absolute genius.

Following a great performance from him and his Arctic Monkeys bandmates, he decided to get on stage and act like a teenager forced to go on a night out with his parents.

If he didn’t want to turn up, he shouldn’t have bothered. It worked for Bowie.

Or if he wanted to act rebellious, rather than drop a microphone, he could have done it in far better rock n roll style by trashing the joint, flashing or setting fire to a guitar.

That really would have livened things up.
