IT’S a rather sick posthumous parade that shows no signs of slowing down.

After the recent appearance of the late rapper Tupac Shakur at a US festival in hologram form, the next dead pop star to perform at a venue near you could be Michael Jackson.

Jackie Jackson has revealed that his little brother may be joining the Jackson 5 on their upcoming arena tour – as a spooky projection.

It’s not an entirely new idea. Early versions of the technique were used on some of Jimi Hendrix’s material to either add or remove fellow musicians and, more recently, Natalie Cole dueted with her late father via the same medium.

But the wonders of 21st Century CGI technology, and the fact it’s just a bit too soon after his shock death, make this all rather eerie.

I enjoyed Robbie Williams and his holographic appearance on Take That’s The Circus Tour, but only because of the anticipation that he might actually join his former bandmates the next time around.

With Jackson, it just all seems a bit weird.

On reflection though, perhaps it isn’t such a bad idea. Jackson was reinvented so many times while he was alive, that perhaps this is just a bizarre extension of his remodelling in death.

It seems anything is possible in showbiz if there’s money to be made.
