Brad Pitt has said some of his best ever advice came from ex Gwyneth Paltrow's dad.
The Moneyball actor said in an Esquire interview that his ex girlfriend's dad taught him how to be humble about his job.
He revealed that rather than describe himself as an actor, he prefers the term self-employed and said: "I learned that from Bruce Paltrow. I always liked it. It's a humble way to describe what we do."
Brad, 49, also said he'd be modest if a stranger asked him what he did: "Well, I'd be very Midwest about it, very Missouri. I'd say, 'This and that.' I'd say, 'I'm a dad, just like you'."
Brad and Iron Man 3 star Gwyneth dated for two and a half years and were engaged, but split in 1997.
In 2003 she told Diane Sawyer: "My kind of internal stuff really tripped up that whole relationship. And I felt really responsible, and also like I was the architect of my own misery... I just made a big mess out of it."
Brad is now engaged to actress Angelina Jolie and they have six children.
