Alert as plane reports landing problem

EMERGENCY services across Southampton were on alert after a plane reported trouble as it came into land in the city this morning.

The alarm was raised after the Flybe plane, which is understood to have been travelling from Jersey, reported problems with its undercarriage.

Police confirmed they were called at 10.58am and had cars on standby close to junction five at Eastleigh with a view to closing the motorway.

Paramedics also went to the scene as a precaution however the plane landed safely at 11.06am
