POLICE investigating a suspicious fire at a boatyard are appealing for witnesses to help their inquiry.

Detectives and specialist forensic officers were today at the scene of the blaze in Newport on the Isle of Wight.

They are working with the island's fire and rescue service to attempt to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire.

Emergency services were called to Odessa Marine at Little London at 8.09pm last night.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call CID at Newport Police Station on 101, or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
