ROCK band Bon Jovi will close the main stage at the Isle of Wight festival next year, it has been announced this morning.

Following yesterday's announcement that The Stone Roses will headline the main stage on Friday, organizers have revealed the Grammy Award winning band will top the bill on the last day of the festival in June next year.

Jon Bon Jovi, said: "The Isle of Wight Festival is legendary and we're excited to join in the long tradition of Rock 'n' Roll history.

“We are honoured to be the headliners on the Main Stage Sunday night. This will mark our first visit to the island and I expect it will prove to be a highlight of our tour and of 2013."

Promoter of the Isle of Wight festival John Giddings said he was confident the bad would provide a fitting finale to nest year's event.

He said: “I can't imagine a better rock band with more hits to close our Sunday night. The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen are hard acts to follow - but I think they'll do it!"

The New Jersey-based band - lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, guitarist Richie Sambora, keyboardist David Bryan and drummer Tico Torres - have been together for more than three decades during which time have sold 130 million albums.

They were one of the first band to perform at St Mary's stadium in Southampton in 2006, playing to 35,000 fans.

Oh please god, no. With the Stone Roses playing the Friday this was my worst fear as i already have tickets for them at Finsbury Park in the same month. With BJ also headlining now think i will give this year a wide berth unless there are some truly awesome acts on in the Big Top. Oh well....

Oh good! was my first thought, at last, they're closing down that annual intolerable disturbance to the lives of ordinary normal people. Then I read on and realised they were just announcing the identity of another "artiste" I've never heard of who will be the last on the stage. Hey, ho.

If you don't know who Bon Jovi are, you clearly have been living under a rock. I'm not a massive fan of them, but your message makes you sound like the 'intollerable disturbance'.
