Trains delayed by snow and ice on the line
SNOW and icy conditions are causing delays for Hampshire commuters trying to get to London by train.
Operators are reporting delays of up to two hours on the main line between Southampton and Waterloo.
Wintry weather has caused major problems on the rails around Woking.
South West Trains passengers are being urged to only travel if necessary, but are being told they can use alternative First Great Western and Southern services as well as London Underground and buses on all “reasonable routes” they find as diversions.
South West Trains is warning commuters to expect delays to last throughout the day.
Snow has already fallen in parts of northern Hampshire and Surrey today, and the Met Office is forecasting temperatures will not get above 3C, although wind chill will make it feel significantly colder.

The Daily Echo talking rubbish again.
I have just travelled up to London on the 08:00 from Southampton this morning, the cause of the delays was a train broken down at New Malden...
GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!
Maybe there were other problems as well as a broken down train at New Malden...
From National Rail's website...
"Trains are being delayed by up to 2 hours through Woking and trains between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour are diverted via Cobham and will no longer call at Woking."
If the people that run the railways didn't convey the information, then how's the Echo supposed to know?
Also;
"A person has been hit by a train at Kingston
Because of this, there are delays of up to 45 minutes between Wimbledon and Twickenham / Shepperton. These delays will continue until further notice."
Which presumably had a knock on effect...
