A POST-mortem examination that was due to be carried out yesterday on the cyclist who died on a Southampton road has been postponed until today.

The formal identification of the 48-year-old from Wimborne in Dorset is also due to happen later this morning once the rescheduled post-mortem has taken place.

Several vehicles were involved in the crash on the city-bound side of Mountbatten Way just before 9am on Monday.

Two drivers were arrested as a result of initial inquiries at the scene. A West End man, 37, who was driving a white Ford Transit minibus, and a Fordingbridge man, 56, who was driving a silver Mercedes coupe, were both questioned on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. They were released on bail until March pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information about the cyclist or the collision is asked to call Sgt Rob Heard at the Road Death Investigation Team, Eastleigh, on 101, quoting Operation Ruddy.
