MORE than 2,200 children will be receiving gifts donated by generous people on the Isle of Wight thanks to the Island’s first Toy Appeal.

The appeal aimed to collect 500 toys for worthy charities and causes on the Island, but they quickly smashed their target, collecting more than four times the amount they had hoped for.

It was backed by Radio 1 DJ and Bestival organiser Rob da Bank.

I'm shocked and upset that 2,200 children have to rely on gifts from strangers for Christmas on the IOW alone.

We're all sitting with our internet on this website and children are going without?!?

How come this has only just come to light?
