A Hampshire pensioner has been taken to hospital after a bus accident in Southampton city centre.

Emergency services were called to Hanover Buildings following the accident at 11.48 this morning.

Police immediately closed the road, following the accident involving a First Bus, while ambulance staff treated the 82-yrea-old woman.

She was taken to Southampton General Hospital suffering from a broken ankle and a possible broken wrist.

The road was due to be reopened by about 1.45pm.

If its anywhere near to the stupid crossing near Bargate then its no wonder there was an accident! If so it, won't be the last either.

When are we going to get a purpose bult bus station so that the roads around the parks are clear of buses? The area around Hanover Buildings, Vincents Walk and Bargate were never designed for that volume of bus traffic. You would not put five bits of railway station around city streets, so why this nonsense? We need one central point where we get our buses.

There was another Bus accident Tuesday in Shirley where a bus had run someone over!!! the blood curdling screams from my office was awful!

Best wishes to your mum...an amazing lady...I was with her from the start until the paramedics took her away...I held her hand & we talked about lots of things she spoke so highly of all her family. I really do wish her a steady recovery...a truely amazing lady!!!
