GOOD causes in Southampton received over £6.6m of National Lottery funding last year.

A total of 38 grants were awarded across the city, providing a vital cash boost to local arts, sport and heritage projects and community groups helping the area’s most vulnerable people.

This includes £9,988 to Soccer4All Youth FC, which provides sports leadership training to young people not in employment or education, £9,320 to Southampton Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Counselling Service and £3,433 to City Life Church for a play group.

Now those benefiting last year have a chance to win again and get national recognition for their work as the National Lottery Awards 2013 open.

There are seven categories, each reflecting an area of Lottery funding, which are sport, heritage, arts, environment, health, education and voluntary/ charity.

Entries must be received by 9am on Tuesday, March 19. The star-studded award show will be broadcast on BBC One later this year.
