SPORTING stars dropped in to inspire Hampshire pupils in their fundraising bid.

GB canoeist Jonathan Boyton and paracanoeist Jeanette Chippington visited Meonstoke Infant School, in Meonstoke, as part of a Sports 4 All UK event.

They witnessed the children’s attempt to raise money to invest back into their PE budget.

Children did a sponsored circuit lasting four minutes with a minute on each activity, which was followed by a presentation by the special guests.

Jonathan raced for GB last year with partner Ed Rutherford in K2, but narrowly missed out on Olympic selection.

Former Paralympian swimmer Jeanette is hoping to compete in Rio 2016, as paracanoeing did not feature at last summer’s London Olympics.

Sports 4 All UK aims to inspire children to get involved in sport but also develop their sense of belief and aspiration.

It also helps support athletes without any lottery funding.

In the last 2 years, it has helped different schools raise almost £200,000 around the country.
