HOTEL staff are getting active to raise £10,000 to help vulnerable and neglected children.

Those working at the Macdonald Botley Park Hotel will be doing everything from dragon boat racing to abseiling in aid of Action for Children throughout 2013.

The charity was chosen by staff as the hotel’s charity partner for the year and they have already raised £2,000 since January.

Through the partnership young people from the Wessex Fostering Project will get opportunities like cooking with the hotel’s award-winning chef or golf lessons with the hotel’s professional golfer.

Staff will also mentor and coach young people.

Upcoming cash raising events include general manager Jason Nixon running in two marathons and a halfmarathon, starting with the Reading Half Marathon in March.

There will also be a summer fun day and barbecue, an abseiling challenge down Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower and a 15-crew dragon boat race.
