Arthur Perkins, who lives at Romsey’s Edwina Mountbatten House care home, has celebrated his 102nd birthday.

Staff at the care home laid on a birthday tea party for Arthur, pictured, who is a former sailor and railwayman.

Care home manager Mrs Angela O’Harte said: “Lots of people including Arthur’s daughter Joy Skinner and her husband Richard, staff and friends joined the party.

"He was overwhelmed but he thoroughly enjoyed it. Arthur’s absolutely marvellous for his age and is a true gentleman.”

Arthur blew the candles out on a caked that was specially made for the occasion and topped with an iced 102.
