THREE Hampshire charities benefited from a year-long campaign by sports fans who went to extraordinary lengths to help others in need.

Fundraisers took part in ten gruelling Olympic-themed challenges including a tennis marathon, a 110km cycle through the New Forest, an 800m run, long jump, shot put and a 200m sprint during the year.

The final event of the 123 Decathlon Challenge was a 1,500m swim at Fareham Leisure Centre.

Fundraisers collected a total of £100,000 for the Rose Road Association, Wessex Cancer Trust and the Rainbow Centre
