A CORONER has ruled that the death of a Southampton man when he fell from a cliff was a tragic accident.
Peter Scurr was on holiday with his wife Lorraine in Jersey last year celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary.
The 69-year-old, of Vespasian Road, died instantly when he slipped from a narrow cliff-top footpath last June, and fell 40ft onto a concrete German war tunnel.
His wife Lorraine was left with several serious injuries after also losing her footing.
She was airlifted from the island to Southampton General Hospital and has since recovered.
Coroner Dr Margaret Bayes MBE recorded a verdict of accidental death.
