POLICE have released this CCTV footage in a bid to catch a gunman who shot dead a Southampton dad.

The images captured on cameras along Old Northam Road close to the murder scene have been released by detectives investigating the shooting of Jamal Jones.

The 23-year-old was killed after being shot in the head in a flat in St Mary's Street on Saturday morning.

Police say they want to identify the three men pictured in the footage who they beleive could help with their inquiries.

All three men are believed to be black and are wearing dark hooded tops with the hoods up.

Detective Superintendent Callan Cessford said: “We are trying to trace the movements of the men after they left the murder scene in St Mary's Street. We know they went up Old Northam Road and then towards the Esso petrol station.

“We would like to hear from anyone who remembers seeing them at any stage on their journey especially if they saw them after they passed the petrol station.

“A large team of officers are currently working on this case and a number of strong leads are being followed up.

“I would urge anyone who has any information about the murder or who thinks they may have seen the men on Saturday to contact us. I would like to reassure them that we have a process in place to speak to them confidentially and address any concerns they may have about their personal safety.

"I would also like to thank the local community for their very positive response, especially those who live directly around the scene who have temporarily had to move out while we carry out our forensic work. We hope most of them will be able to return to their homes today. Unfortunately a small number will probably have to spend another day in temporary accommodation.

Anyone with information about the murder is asked to call 101 and speak to the Operation Emetic team at Southampton Central police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
