Portcullis House, Platform Road, Southampton
A DISUSED office building in Southampton will soon house 36 student flats.
Developer Cherrymain Estates has won permission to transform Portcullis House in Platform Road into a self-contained block of flats.
The developer scaled back the original plans for 51 flats which included a retail unit.
City council planners have approved the amended scheme for the four-storey building, and work will begin later this year.
As part of the planning consent the developer will make some financial contribution towards local highway improvements.
