TWO men have been charged with the murder of shooting victim Jahmel Jones.

Pierre Lewis and Issac Boateng have both appeared before Southampton Magistrates Court accused of carrying out the killing on the morning of Saturday April 20.

Meanwhile a third man is this morning being quizzed by detectives on suspicion of murder following his arrest in the early hours in London, in a joint operation involving specialist teams from the Met police.

Jahmel, 23, was shot in the head inside his flat in St Mary's Street around 10.30am.

His death sparked a major police hunt for those responsible and the evacuation of residents from their homes in the block of flats throughout the weekend of the murder.

So far ten people have been arrested in connection with his death.

Lewis, 20, from Barnes in London, appeared in court yesterday charged with conspiracy to murder Mr Jones.

He had been charged by detectives at the weekend following his arrest last week, but his appearance in court could not be reported for legal reasons.

Today Boateng, 21, from Hounslow, was brought to court having been charged last night with conspiracy to murder.

However when he appeared in the dock, wearing a navy sweatshirt and handcuffed, he was told that charge would now be changed.

Sarah Dineley, district crown prosecutor from Wessex CPS, said the charges would be amended for both men who now stand accused of joint murder.

A court order banning the reporting of the charges has now been lifted following today's arrest, the court heard.

Boateng and Lewis will appear before Winchester Crown Court together on May 14.
