A MAN in the running for a job that would see him swimming with sea lions and coming face to face with great white sharks has taken on another more vertical adventure.
Scott Tisson, from Wickham, is in the running for one of six ‘dream’ jobs being offered by Tourism Australia – he is down to the final 25 for the role of wildlife caretaker in southern Australia.
To highlight his job campaign, Scott abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower, in Portsmouth, to raise money for Naomi House Children’s Hospice, with an Australian flag strapped to his back.
The 29-year-old is up against 24 other candidates from the United States, France, Germany, Spain, Taiwan, Canada, South Korea, Italy, Australia and Indonesia to land the post.
Nearly 24,000 people applied for this role in the UK alone and around 118,000 people worldwide.
The six-month position would involve exploring Kangaroo Island, getting up close with wallabies, koalas, seals, feeding echidnas in bushland and playing with dolphins in the waters.
“I’ve packed an amazing amount into the week since being announced as a shortlisted candidate and it was great to be part of such a great fundraising effort,’’ said Scott, of Heath Road.
“Now the pressure is on to secure my dream wildlife job.’’ More than 600,000 expressions of interest were submitted by almost 350,000 people from 196 countries for the six roles.
