WHAT do you do when you end up with 14,000 Doctor Who books in your garage?

If you are Hampshire man Andrew Ledger, you give them away to schools across the UK.

Mr Ledger, who is best known for directing the Fordingbridge Players, bought the books with friends in an online auction.

One of the pals suggested they could send them to schools and after putting a message on social networking site Twitter, 372 schools have already been in touch.

Mr Ledger, 38, from Fording-bridge, is wading through emails from schools across the country anxious to get hold of the books.

Mr Ledger said: “We were fans of Doctor Who books when we were little and some of us were reluctant readers but loved these books.

“We’re hoping to start something here, maybe a wave of Doctor Who fans who might go and buy books and give them to their schools.”

He is anticipating giving between six and 12 books to each school that applies.
